Coming from San José

To get through San Jose the best thing to do is to ask your car rental agency or hotel for directions to Route 32 to Limon. You can also hale a cab driver and ask to follow them to Route 32 for $10. This will save you a lot of time if you get lost instead of driving around.

Take Route 32 out of San Jose for about 3 hours to the city of Limon. Before you get to Limon you will see a sign for Route 36 to Puerto Viejo.

Turn right on Route 36 and travel for about 45 minutes until you come to a "Y" in the road. Route 36 turns to the right and a sign will direct you straight to Puerto Viejo. Take this road for about 10 minutes until you see the ocean straight ahead then continue right for a few more minutes along Playa Negra (black sand beach) until you get into town.

Continue down the main street of town past the Banco de Costa Rica until you again reach the waterfront where you'll go right and follow the beach.

Drive staight on for about 500m, you will first pass the famous Salsa Brava on your left, than Rocking J's also on your left and the 'Pure Jungle Spa' on your right. There you will see our sign on the right side of the road. Turn in this entrance and follow it, until you reach our parking lot.

A 4WD vehicle is not necessary to reach us but you might appreciate it when exploring the area if you get off the beaten track.
